    Julia turns 4

It feels like a lifetime ago that I sat in a hospital bed wondering if we would ever see a fourth birthday. Looking outside of that snowy hospital room window, I couldn’t even imagine what life could be like without her. Little did I know what would unfold in the early hours of February 6, 2016. After what felt like a lifetime, I was finally able to hold Julia 2 entire days after she was born. Exhausted from the chaotic events leading up to her birth and afterwards, I sat on a hospital recliner propped by pillows, sore from surgery and held my girl for the first time. I sat…

    Julia turns 3!

How is this feisty little girl three already? Sometimes it really feels like just yesterday that we brought her home and began our adventure as a family of three. When you become a parent your heart doubles in size, and with Julia it was really love at first sight. We were able to watch Julia grow from a 2.5 lb. little baby into a 33 lb. toddler- she really is our miracle. Julia is such a happy little girl, who keeps us on our toes. She has such a great personality, she is caring and very sensitive. So much will change this year for her, she will start preschool in…

    Welcoming Baby Audrey

On Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 10:39 am we welcomed a beautiful little 6 pound baby girl to our family. Audrey was born at 36 weeks & 4 days by a scheduled c-section. We were over the moon that we made it to this milestone in my pregnancy. I was so thankful that even though this pregnancy was considered high risk, (because of me delivering Julia 11 weeks early) it was fairly uneventful. As every mother wonders about how their relationship will change with their oldest child, I was so nervous of how Julia would accept a sibling. After all, it has been just the two of us during our…

March for Babies 2019 Ambassador Family

This year for the 2019 March for Babies for Western Connecticut, we were chosen to be the walks Ambassador Family. We are so happy that we are able to share our story of how having Julia 11 weeks early changed our little family. Our sweet little Julia spent the first 50 days of her life in New Haven, at Yale. We were blessed to have a feisty little girl who beat the odds, and still continues to do so. Please donate to our team, help give other preemies and their families hope for tomorrow. Without the March of Dimes and their funding for research for life saving measures for babies born…

    Strawberry Picking

We took advantage of some beautiful weather recently, and visited Jones Family Farms. We picked a great morning to go strawberry picking! This is was my first time bringing Julia, so I made sure to bring my backpack with supplies just incase she decided to meltdown. Luckily, she had a blast! We got her own little basket to help with picking, and the berries were so ripe! We laughed together while she picked strawberries and they went directly into her mouth, doesn’t get any fresher than that!   We picked enough to make fresh strawberry jam as well as some for snacking. It really was the perfect activity for Julia,…

    Annual Memorial Blood Drive

Every year in August, I organize a memorial blood drive. It’s in memory of my father-in-law who passed away several years ago. He was an integral member in our family, and relied heavily on the generosity of strangers through blood donation. I started this annual event as a way to be able to preserve his memory in our community. Blood donation kept him going through his sickness and gave the family an additional 18 years to be able to love him. This is our small way of paying it forward and hopefully giving other families more time with their loved ones. Below is a link to our website for the…

A letter to Julia, on your second birthday

Two? Already? The last two years have just flown by! I can’t believe that my sweet little Julia is already two! We have done so much growing together as a family of three this year. This year wasn’t as “monitored” as it was with you the first year of your life. We had less doctor visits and developmental assessments and more time to just be normal parents. Julia, you amaze me every single day. Your little laugh is infectious, and your smile is 100 watts. I am so proud to watch you meet and exceed each milestone that is thrown your way. You have gone through so much in your…

    This is 30

3-0. Two numbers that seemed ancient to my 12-year-old self. I was a big daydreamer as a kid; I thought that I would travel the world. Visit the places that are the foundation for my family- I wanted to see Germany, where my grandma was raised and be able to share pictures with her. I wanted to travel to Italy, and see the history that’s a part of my family; I even thought I would study abroad. But as reality quickly set in to what I was able to do, I think it shaped who I am today. I always envisioned 30 so differently when I was a kid, and…

Railroad Museum of New England, Northern Lights Express

This is a great local experience for us! I found this activity while looking for train tickets for the Polar Express in Essex.  Thomaston has a great little hidden gem, that is appropriate for the age that Julia is. We took her on this train when she was about 10 months old and again at almost two. She enjoyed it! They offer two different ticket classes, First Class & Coach. We sprung for the First Class tickets, because there wasn’t a great price difference in our opinion. We purchased our tickets when they became available over the summer, because we wanted to have preference over our day/time. Even if it…
