Welcoming Audrey: Packing a hospital bag.

Starting to pack for the hospital was a pretty exciting time for me in my pregnancy! It meant that the finish line was just that much closer, and I was really proud of myself. With my first pregnancy, it was such a rush to get to the hospital, and frankly I wasn’t sure what would become of my stay so I never was able to pack a bag- I was only 27 weeks. But with Audreys pregnancy I researched so much, that I guess I looked at it as a little getaway.

I compiled a bunch of my favorite items and put them on my page for you to be able to shop and get a general idea for what exactly you want to pack for yourself. I also made sure to pack something for my husband in my bag or his own backpack if he wanted that. Sometimes we tend to forget about our hubby, so I made sure to pack comfy pjs and a sweatshirt since the hospital can get cold at night. But we kind of went into this knowing that he would probably be leaving at night to help our oldest have a level of routine with him getting her to bed at night so that she was still comfortable.

Packing for the hospital really marked such a special milestone in my pregnancy for me, so I splurged on some items like my barefoot dreams robe. I wanted to be cozy but looked forward to some new comfy pjs while admitted.

One special little addition to my hospital bag, is the Dr. Seuss book. This book is used as a special little yearbook for my girls. They each have one, and we have had every special nurse or doctor sign them for us. I plan to use this until their high school graduations, I think that it will be something very special for them to have and reflect back on.

I also recommend making sure that you take a paper shopping bag with you to take home whatever is extra in the baby cart from the hospital. Sometimes there will be extra diapers, wipes, and ointments for you to leave with. I also used a separate bag for my husband so that he was able to bring different stuff back and forth with him since he was going to be going home to check on our oldest daughter. I hope you find something items that make you feel as comfortable as possible in the hospital!
